WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (Oct. 20, 2006) - The PowerSports Snowmobile Tours second annual Regional Affiliate Championship events, held during the Nielsen Enterprises Grand Finale, will feature a Womens Stock Class. The event is scheduled for March 16-18 at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva, Wis.
Were pleased to announce the return of the Womens Stock Class to the Regional Affiliate Championships, said PowerSports Entertainment, Inc. Executive Vice President of Operations Kent Lungstrom. The Womens Stock Class has a long history of strong participation and competitive fields in all of our regions. Were excited to have them compete and we apologize for not including the class in the original release.
The 300cc Class will not be running at part of the 2006-2007 Regional Affiliate Championship.
We will continue to monitor the growth of this class of racers with the hopes of adding the Junior 300cc Class to next seasons events, said Lungstrom. We regret any confusion this may have caused.
The Regional Affiliate Championship will invite the top-three finishers in each eligible class in each of four regional title chases-Minnesota State, Wisconsin State, Woodys Michigan State and the Rock Maple Racing circuit-to compete in the events. Eligible classes include: 120 Champs, Womens Stock, Jr. 10-13 Fan, Plus 25, Sport Open, Sport Stock 500, Semi-Pro Open, Semi-Pro Stock 500, and Pro Stock. Tour entry fees will be waived for those qualified regional affiliate riders. Trophies will be awarded for first through fifth place, while the winner of each class will be honored at the National awards banquet following racing activities on Sunday, March 18.
The cut-off dates for determining top three in each class for each regional affiliate are March 3-4, 2007, and invitees will be contacted by WPSA to arrange participation details the week of March 5. Competitors are urged to contact their local affiliate for information on how to qualify.
