Podium Productions

So you live in Southern California and the surronding areas and you want to race. What do you do? Who do you call?

No further then a little place only a few miles outside of Temecula California is Murrrieta; the headquarters for Podium Productions. A full service race and event promotion service.

With the capcity to handle quads, Rhinos, dirt bikes and other motorsport machines owner Heather Brobeck obviously has her hands full. We contacted her about how much stuff she does in the amatuer community and as always it was a pleasure to speak with another industry supporter and all around fun person. Check out or Q&A and the photos!

Location:
Office is in Murrieta, CA.  We run events all over Southern California and AZ.

So who is Podium Productions?
Podium Productions is an extreme sports event coordination company developed to help organize, promote and produce extreme sports events. With a race-ready event staff, Podium can handle all coordinating needs from assisting with existing events to independently organizing, promoting and running races.

What kind of racing do you promote?
Currently we are focused on our growing motocross, mini motocross, quad and rhino racing.  We run Mike Metzger’s events and assist in promoting events that we are sub contracted to run.

How many employees?
It depends on how big the event is, for the 2005 METZfest we had over 25 workers but on an average race usually 6.

How many years in the industry?
Since I have been in diapers I have been on the back of a dozer building Mickey Thompson racetracks with my grandfather.  I have been in the “industry” for many years.  My father raced quads, my uncle is the main equipment operator for Lake Elsinore Motocross Park, my grandfather and all of my cousins race off road so racing has always been apart of my life.  After running races for other promoters I decided I should run my own crew, I started Podium Productions in 2004 running mini 4 stroke races and just progressed from there.  We now have 4 different series going, special events and are working on a national series with some tracks back east.

Any favorite races?
My favorite Podium Productions races are the quads and rhinos, they draw a huge crowd and everyone gets along.

You race Rhinos – tell us about that?
Rhino races are the next big thing! We started running rhinos, Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV) or also known as Side by Sides at our quad races and it exploded.  We have had Mike Metzger, Travis Pastrana and Dana Creech in the rhino line up.  Semi trucks are pulling up at the races rolling out $27,000 rhinos…I think the sport is here to stay.  I had a chance to jump into a race with undefeated racer Travis Peterson of Rhino Mafia and a blast.  We are fortunate to be one of the first promoters to do short course rhino racing.

You ever hear of the WPSA?
I think it is great that the ATV world is getting this level of exposure.  I hope the series does well and receives the ratings it needs to continue the growth of the ATV market.

You promote a summer Quad Cross Series, any names that stand out in the Amateur ranks?
There are so many amazing riders that we have the pleasure to host races for. Some of the Amateur riders to look for are athletes like Christian Vargas the winner of our 265-450 Open A class will prove to be a strong competitor in the Pro ranks.  Keith Klausman has definitely earned his new intermediate status by dominating the 265-450 Open B class.  Beginner rider Brandon Bandera is one to keep tabs on with his good sportsmanship, natural talent and family support we look forward to watching him advance.

What kind of turnouts do your races produce?
We have been honored to have names like Jeremy Schell, Darrell Patton, Cyle Chislock, Dana Creech racing his rhino, Mike Metzger and Travis Pastrana.  With the status of these athletes, the rhino racing and the positive environment that we strive to provide for our riders the Podium Productions numbers increase every race.  We have huge sponsor support that shows at the end of the series prize presentations.

Do you ever keep up with racing in the East or from around the world?
Honestly, I wish I had more time to keep up on a lot of things!  I am pretty busy; I get filled in on my rider updates on the starting gate in-between races.

Do you race or have time to ride?
I actually race off road, we have a class 1600 car and we just got our class 1 car.  I would like to get a Rhino so I can race and run the event at the same time.  I have a mini bike and quad but no time to play!
