Not only has Nick proved tough in the morning C 16-21 class by clinching the championship but he has also proved you can get to the podium from a line other than the first two. Yes...18 year old Ronnie “Nick” Mills earned a spot on the podium at Loretta Lynn’s this year which turned the heads of many racers and spectators. “My best memory on the track would have to be at Loretta Lynn’s this season when I got 3rd overall and earned a spot on the morning podium.” When asking Nick about his drive and ambition in ATV racing he responded “The want to be the best”.
Every racer that straps on their helmet and waits for the famous “10 seconds” call and each one of those competitors wants to be on top at the end of the day. It is not as easy as “wanting” to be on top, after all the GNCC not only incorporates the challenges of the terrain but the GNCC brings out the toughest competitors in the ATV Industry. Nick spoke of Kevin Wallpe and Brian Parker during the interview and made it known that these two riders have put forth some really great battles this season. Whether talking of a win, good finish, or if you are one of the few who earn a championship…it is hard earned. It is hard work that takes weeks and weeks of preparation physically, mentally, and of course time spent maintaining your machine. |

So, what got Nick started in the GNCC? “Kevin Patterson invited me to attend the 2005 Steele Creek race and I was hooked. The competition levels and all the new people you get to meet.” Nick has caught on quickly to the GNCC and all the challenges it has to offer. In fact his performance is very impressive and not bad for a guy who has only been racing for two years. Nick shared that he remembers riding since the age of 3 and driving his “papaw” around his farm. His first machine was a Z 50 which he learned to ride at the young age of 5. 14 years later he is looking the 2007 GNCC Series and the step up to an afternoon class “I want to move to the afternoon race and run 4 Stroke B and be in the points chase for that championship”.
We asked Nick his thoughts on the ever evolving ATV Industry “I feel that it is going in a great direction with all the pro’s and even a few people that isn’t on that front row in the evening getting factory sponsorships. It will only get better with that kind of backing.” Nick wanted to also be sure to mention the individuals and companies that have and will be supporting his goals in ATV racing…”I would like to say Thanks to my Mom and Dad for standing behind me 100%, Patterson Chip company for everything from getting me to the race and helping me get my quad fixed, GT-Thunder, Alba Action Sports, Flexx Bars, Scott Goggles, Kenda Tires, Hiper Tech., Tireballs, Santor Racing, Inferno Racing, and Sherril’s Drywall .
