Ken Stanka

If you spend a lot of time in ATV forums some names seem to stick out. Ken Stanka has been one of those names. Check out our Q&A below. He offered up some insight into who he was, and where he was coming from.

Name: Ken Stanka (AKA: Pred_or_Prey, Prey, PorP and a few others :p)

Location: 15 Miles south of the Nations Capitol in wonderful Waldorf MD

Tell us a little about yourself: I am a 33-year-old father of 1 son and 2 daughters and am married. I served 8 years in the US Navy as a Naval Air Crewman aboard the S-3B Viking aircraft. I started riding in 1982 on ATC's. Other than my family and ATV's I like music (punk and alternative), movies, MX vs ATV Unleashed (XBox) and my guitars

Do you race?: Yes, I began racing last year, this year I have dedicated much more time to racing. I have raced in the District 7 series, AGP, GNC and GNCC

You are a recognized member of many forums - where do you spend most of your time?: Which ever forums I am not banned from LOL...... Of the MB's that still put up with me www.bannedatatvnews.com is by far my favorite (**Mature Readers Only!).

Why?: TRASH TALKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a sailor at heart and I cuss like one. Joking around with people and not having to worry about them taking it too seriously, getting angry or getting banned for my raw sense of humor makes my day (although I have been banned at least 2 times I can think of from BAAN LOL). We are free to cast any opinion we want (except Death LOL) and use any words we want to express ourselves. But the primary reason is that we are like a big dysfunctional family, a lot of us are friends or have become friends via the site.

BAAN members have been meeting up since 2004, although there were only a few regular posting members and turnouts were fairly small, we have gained much popularity over the last year and will hopefully have a decent sized BAAN showing this year. We give out winner and loser ("LOSLER") trophies based on results at the Ironman. We are also adding different ideas to the forum; it should be an interesting future for the site.

Plus I am the 2005 Ironman BAAN champ and have a title to defend

We interviewed the people who started BAAN this month also. Do you ever worry that you might piss people off with your responses and opinions?: NEVER! as I mentioned i served in the military protecting peoples right to voice their opinions (while us military have no constitutional rights). If my opinion angers people, they will have to cope with it. I see different issues spewed all over the media every day that boils my blood; I think to myself, ' this idiot can't actually think that way', or wonder why that jackass actually has the gaul to say something so mindless while all the time knowing that the media is to blame, hoping a certain controversial opinion will get them ratings.

With that said, I don't go out with the intent of pissing people off either. It just happens and I am not the kind of guy who is just going to lay down.

So how many sites have you been banned from?:

At least 7 (ATV sites) that i can think of, and of those 7 i have banned up to 4 times from each one

Many times my joking is confused with being angry or being super aggressive, this is just not the case in most of my bannings. I am just looking for the opportunity to laugh at and with people............ i am misunderstood :(

Who do you recognize in the ATV industry as a growing name?: WOW! Tough question, I guess the obvious one is WPSA/ESPN, and then I would say the folks at Polaris and Can-Am, Polaris for their IRS sport bike offering and they have brought KTM into the production quad market. Can-Am offered up the 1st +60hp production machines and is breaking into the 450 market later in the year/early next year, I think those 2 manufacturers will be giving the big 4 a tough time in the near future. After them I think that Dasa'a Dan Lamey has to be recognized for pushing the development of the 450R further, Dale Freitas with the Atlantic Grand Prix series. I also think you cant answer this question without including racers Chris Jenks and Dustin Wimmer. There are many more, I could easily write a novel on this.

If you don't mind Chuck, I would like to thank my 2006 sponsors, Tony Kellner (my mechanic) of Kellner Motorsports, Ron Mueller of Certified Racing.com, SIXSIXONE, N-Style, Vortex Racing, RK Chains, Twin Air, Hazardous Sports, Sunline/ARC, ASV, Utopia Optics, Osiris Shoes and www.Air-Powered.com
